And others we pass on.

For more than 500 years, the stones of Le Hameau des Sources have crossed generations.

Over time the place has changed without losing what gives it its character: its buildings, its stone, its volumes, and the marks left by those who lived here.

Before the hamlet

The ruins ofMirabel-le-Vieux

Above the hamlet, the ruins of Mirabel-le-Vieux still watch over the plain. In the early thirteenth century a fortified village was built on the heights of the Saint-Jean mountain.

Behind its walls stood a castle, a cistern and some twenty stone houses lined along a single street. The place seems to have been abandoned only a few decades after it was built.

The centuries passed, people came back down to the plain, and the mas gradually took their place in the landscape of Pompignan.

It is in this setting — old stone, garrigue and the first slopes of the Cévennes — that Le Hameau des Sources stands today.

The exact history of its walls is still to be written. The history of the land around them goes back several centuries.

A familystory

Today it is our turn to look after it.

Le Hameau des Sources is a family venture we are building together, with one simple idea: to keep this place alive rather than merely preserve it.
